Questions?

We are aware that we have been so busy recently that we have not been as good as we might have been in communicating what  Sustaining Dunbar is doing and why. It has also come to our attention that there are a small number of, mostly anonymous, individuals raising questions about Sustaining Dunbar’s activities on a couple of  local web forums.

As a small, volunteer run charity we don’t have the capacity to continually monitor or respond to these. We have therefore updated the FAQs on this website which hopefully answer the main questions being raised.  If anyone has other questions then they are encouraged to get in touch with us direct and we will do our best to respond.

Our staff and volunteers feel very positive about our achievements to date.  We don’t have anything to hide. The savings on fuel bills made by householders who have taken advantage of our free energy audit service, for example, amount to over £100,000 per year.  This is money which would otherwise have left the area but is now available to local households. Dunbar Community Bakery, for example, has created 10 new (full time equivalent) jobs, is providing a much needed local service and is playing a part in revitalising Dunbar High Street.

Sustaining Dunbar is committed to trying to make the Dunbar area more sustainable and to building a strong and vibrant local economy. We welcome the involvement of any individuals or organisations who would like to help actively shape these efforts.
