Dunbar and District Food Map: Past
Where did we get our food in the past (e.g. during World War II and the Dig for Victory Campaign)?
Please use Map key.

MAP KEY:

Farms?
Up to around 1940 used to have 16 pairs of Clydesdale horses and up to 100 workers when potatoes were being lifted.
Old Herring Roads?
Fish?
We used to be able to buy local fish locally
Sugar Beets?
We could not get imported sugar. All our sugar came from Sugar Beets grown throughout East Lothain
Old Apple Orchards?
Canning?
Every time something came into season there would be a canning day for people to come to one place to preserve food.
Dairy Farms?
