The East Linton Auction Mart is looking at options to develop the site and buildings at the old sale ground as a community and small business hub. The project is at the feasibility stage still and will require a business case to be made before further financial support can be obtained and the site purchased with support from the Scottish Land Fund.
These plans would make use of a local iconic building and have got the full support of Dunpender Community Council and local councillors.

The scheme developed when a small group of residents got together and started to discuss what could be done to develop the site.
Surveys carried out by East Lothian Council and Sustaining Dunbar had previously identified a need for local jobs, training opportunities, business premises, and studios, which could be catered for on the site as a whole.
If the feasibility study is successful, the site could once again be the focus of trading and community involvement encouraging local enterprise and business start-ups, as well as providing locally based training and education.
It is anticipated that a management team made up of local people will decide how the project is developed.
