Philip Revell

Who?

I’m Philip Revell. I’ve lived in Dunbar since 1990. I work part-time as a wood-fire potter having recently stepped back from helping to develop and run the Scottish Communities Climate Action Network and from the boards of Community Energy Scotland and the Scottish Community Alliance.

When?

I helped to set up Sustaining Dunbar back in 2007 and managed some of our earliest funded projects. I joined the board in 2017.

Why?

With the challenges of rising inequality and poverty combined with the looming prospect of a climate catastrophe and the context of the nature emergency, I believe that community-led action to build a resilient community is more vital than ever.

What?

There is a huge amount of local knowledge held by local people. If we can successfully bring diverse perspectives together and our collective intelligence to bear on developing locally appropriate solutions to meeting our future needs then my hope is that we can succeed in creating a place in which everyone is able to thrive within a flourishing environment; a resilient local community that also respects and works for the wellbeing of people worldwide and the health of the whole planet.
