DGS Volunteers

Welcoming our new autumn 2025 volunteers from Dunbar Grammar School

We are delighted to welcome on board our new autumn 2025 volunteers at the Beehive Garden and Dunbar Day Centre.

Sixteen enthusiastic young people have signed up to volunteer with us in the Beehive Garden, supporting outdoor play and nature-based activities with the nursery children!  They’ve all settled into their roles brilliantly, already leading sessions like making nature wands and organising scavenger hunts. Alongside the outdoor fun, they are also lending a hand indoors, playing with the wee ones, supporting staff, and bringing energy and an extra pair of hands to the nursery team.  The staff have been really impressed by their enthusiasm and commitment.

Intergenerational Volunteers at the Day Centre

Our second volunteering group is working with Dunbar Day Centre where older people gather to blether, enjoy a warm meal, and take part in activities. Our young volunteers have thrown themselves into the experience, helping to serve lunches, keep the centre tidy, and also entertain residents with fun quizzes and a lively performance of the YMCA dance, which was a huge hit!

It’s wonderful to see our young people building connections across generations and making a real difference in their community . A huge thank you to them all for their hard work!
