Sustrans’ Places for Everyone funding is enabling Sustaining Dunbar to investigate what is needed to improve cycling, walking and wheeling routes around Dunbar and West Barns.
The Connecting Dunbar project aims to create better walking, wheeling and cycling infrastructure in wider Dunbar so as to facilitate more active travel and more sustainable local transport, as well as creating more liveable streets. The first phase will propose new paths and infrastructure (eg. dropped kerbs) improvements as well as signing. The funding has enabled us to appoint consultants, Cycle Path Services, who are working closely with East Lothian Council to make sure that plans to support active travel align.
The first project Steering Group meeting is on August 15th and the forthcoming map based consultation will be promoted at the Sparkling Dunbar Harbour festival on August 12th.
We think walking and cycling could be made easier for all and want to gather as many views and suggestions as possible.
