Dawn Chorus

You only get so many Mays in your life so, around first light at 4.30am on Sunday, I spend a happy hour sitting by the pond in Binning Wood (it being International Dawn Chorus Day). A great way to start the day -and well removed from the raucous gulls that normally wake us.

This is a five minute sample.

My Merlin App informs me that the cast in this excerpt includes, in rough order of appearance: Robin, Song Thrush, Chiff Chaff, Blackcap, Blackbird, Goldcrest and Garden Warbler plus the noisy entrance of a couple Greylag Geese. Listen also for some splashing from a Moorhen and a pair of Mallard.

Sit back, close your eyes and picture yourself in a mixed woodland by a small pond at dawn…..
