Saturday 10th January 2026, 2-4pm, Belhaven Community Garden
Wassailing is an ancient winter tradition originating from the Anglo-Saxon toast “Waes Hael” (be well), involving singing, drinking spiced ale or cider, and making a noise in orchards on or around Twelfth Night to bless the apple trees for a good harvest in the coming year, to scare away evil spirits and wake the trees, often by placing toast in branches and shouting.
This year we will be wassailing in the orchard at Belhaven Community Garden on Saturday 10th January, 2-4pm. All welcome
