Saturday 25th April, 10am-1pm, Belhaven Community Garden
Meet the Bees -an introductory workshop for anyone interested to learn more about the life of a honey bee colony.
Join us for a friendly morning gathering at Belhaven Community Garden.
Meet the bees and learn how to “read” what’s happening in and around a hive. We’ll begin with quiet observation at the entrance, followed by an open conversation and short input on honey bees as a key species —what they can tell us about the health of our landscape, and also about community life and our relationship with land and environment. There will be space for questions and a gentle introduction to beekeeping.
If conditions are suitable, we may briefly open the hive to glimpse the colony’s inner life.
This workshop is FREE because we want it to be accessible to all but donations towards costs are requested, if you can afford it. Booking essential.
This is a taster workshop for anyone with any interest in learning more about the life of honey bees. We hope to be able to run a full introduction to ‘natural’ beekeeping course at a future date.
Hosted by Sustaining Dunbar. Facilitated by Dr Renatus Derbidge (beekeeper, biologist, writer, Dunbar).
