FLOW -connecting communities and landscape through creativity

Exhibition

John Muir’s Birthplace, Dunbar, EH42 1JJ

Opens Friday 17th July, until 27th September

The FLOW programme was launched with a wonderful ‘Walkshop’ with Henry Mathias who led us down to the Spott Burn and along the Glen. There were conversations and stories around history, botany and geology and we sang our hearts out too. We then settled down to discover Dorodango – the Japanese technique of hand-making polished spheres with clay and pigments.

The following workshops provided an introduction to Anthotypes, a method of creating photographic images without a camera and using plant based light sensitive emulsions. A truly astounding discovery for all concerned.

The remaining workshops will explore casting and printing from natural objects followed by random weaving from foraged materials. They will take place at Spott Village Hall on Sunday 5th and 12th of July. While they are currently fully booked there are often cancellations so if you are interested please do get in touch with Jo on 07484 210 758

A selection of the work created will be presented in our collaborative exhibition FLOW – connecting communities and landscape through creativity that will open at John Muir’s Birthplace on July 17th and run until 27th September.
